A video from the EPSRC shows how they are working together with the AHRC to employ scientific methods to preserve York Minster Cathedral, an approach which could have benefits for many of the UK's other cultural buildings.

One of the challenges facing scientists in the UK is how best to preserve the hundreds of ancient buildings that dot our landscape. The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, together with the Arts and Humanities Research Council, have initiated an £8 million Science and Heritage programme to help protect Britain’s cultural legacy for future generations. Dr Karen Wilson and Dr Kate Giles discuss how cutting edge technology is being used to learn more about York Minster Cathedral, and how to save it.
